Paving way for innovative energy resource in the local power generation industry, GE’s aeroderivative gas turbines have been chosen to power First Gen Corparation’s Avion power plant. Avion is the first in the Philippines to utilize GE’s LM6000 PC Sprint gas turbines, which have the capability to burn both liquid fuel and natural gas.
Aboitiz Power subsidiary’s Aseagas Corporation, has partnered with GE’s Distributed Power business to power its first waste-to-electricity project in Lian in the Province of Batangas, Philippines. The 8.8-megawatt (MW) facility will be a biogas power plant running with GE’s ecomagination approved Jenbacher gas engines.
GE also partnered with renewable energy company Advanced Energy Technologies, and premier meat processing business Pampanga’s Best, to install the Philippines’ first biomass gasification project.
GE will supply high-power steam turbines for the proposed 110-megawatt (MW) coal power plant in Misamis Oriental, Mindanao. This project is a partnership between GE, power distributor Cagayan Electric Power and Light Co. (CEPALCO) and Mitsubishi Corporation. The project aims to ease the power deficit in Mindanao to 68 MW by 2017, presently estimated at a shortage of 134 megawatts by the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP).
